Module Two: Designing A Proposal Inquiry

Hi guys, This is my first post after a long period of inactivity. I am at the start of the module two process and due to some external factors, I will have to accelerate the process. I was delighted with my result from module One and I hope to get a repeat of these results in Module Two. I am working this Module in my own Unique way due to some external factors I can't control. My first activity was actually to complete the MORE Form in time for our deadline on the 6th Nov. Writing this and not having to focus on any literature. This allowed me to think of how I want to conduct my research. And now I can start going down the rabbit hole of looking for literature to help me. I am thinking however that I am very tight for time. And with my performing commitments coming up, even with my short extension granted, it is becoming very hard for me to finish this module.  I may consider putting the module on hold and picking up from here in January but we shall see how the next few weeks g

Final Stretch

As I enter the final stretch of this term (I took an extension until the 28th) I am using the extra time to refine small details in my essay, snd work on completing and photographing the diagram. This term has been a big learning curve for me and about how I will be approaching the next two modules. My essay and diagram feature heavily the idea of professionalism. So that is where I see my research heading towards in the next 2 modules. I suppose on personal reflection this module has been quite a weird experience. I've never done any academics since school. I don't know why, but I was excpecting this to be easier. It wasn't. I've learnt that the module you are on needs to be the sole focus of your time. If any acting jobs come my way next term, I will 100% pause the course. This term I thought I could manage juggling the two (hence this extension). My aim was to have my first essay for feedback as professional and as quality as I could, with the hope of minimising cha

Theories...

Hi guys, it's been a while since my last blog. I have been in a rehearsal process for the past few weeks, and I thought that I would be able to keep this going alongside my work... I was wrong. I have learnt from it though. Now we are into the week of draft submission so we are all guns blazing to get something in for that. I had a great discussion with Sam about my areas of learning, and I do think I have them defined.  The three areas that I will be focusing on are  1.) Vicarious learning to improve a business partner relationship. - I am thinking of my relationship with my agent in a business sense, as a partnership. In order to improve this partnership we need to understand what each person has to bring to the table. For the purpose of my essay, I will be looking at some theories of business partnership and treating the partnership with my agent as purely a business concept. What does each person need to maximise the relationship, and make it a mutually beneficial relationsh

Journal Writing & Areas of Learning

I have spent some time thinking about areas of learning within my practice. I've found that reflection is key to everything I do. With that in mind, I started keeping a journal, where I jot down a few key thoughts/learning points/ activities related to my practice a day. Then, in a study session, I revisit my ideas, and try and relate them back to some key theories/ideas in the module handbook. Through this, I will begin to map out certain learning areas, and see which ones are the most common, and that will hopefully become the three learning areas discussed in my essay. This week, I have come up with 4 key points. 1) I've been thinking of my discussions with my agent. I feel that throughout drama school we make an opinion on the industry through stories we hear from tutors and other people connected to the industry. This method of learning (learning from the experience of others) is called "Vicarious Learning  Ref1 " During the early stages in life as a graduate, we

The Benefits of Learning With Others.

I have been thinking since tonight's session of the benefits of learning through helping others. I thought of it while Rebecca was speaking about intrapersonal connections. I find that a good way of learning is by teaching others. Say for example helping a fellow cast member with a dance routine, i find it helps me solidify what i have learnt while there is a sort of pressure to tech others. Interesting to think of the dance captain role for some of the dancers.  Even in other aspects of life. I feel as if teaching others is a way I like to work things out in my own brain and to teach myself through teaching them. Not sure what type of learning this comes under, I am just jotting it down while I have it in my head. I will consult tomorrow.

Beginning

Hi guys,  This is the first post on my BAPP Journey. Started looking through the module handbook and it all seems a muddle to me. Hoping to find a stating point in tonights zoom!
